The Ottawa Hospital Foundation exists to inspire, enable and recognize
community support for improvements in patient care and equipment
at The Ottawa Hospital
and groundbreaking research at the Ottawa
Hospital Research Institute.
The Ottawa Hospital is the largest acute care hospital in Canada.
As such, it is a critical community asset that touches the lives
of people in every neighbourhood and in every corner of our region.

In July 2011, MoneySense, a personal finance magazine,
published its second annual national review of Canada’s top
100 charities.
With 82.5% of our annual spending going directly to programs at
The Ottawa Hospital and the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute,
The Ottawa Hospital Foundation ranked as the most efficient hospital
foundation in Ontario and third in the country. We earned an A+
ranking in overall charity efficiency as well as in the category
of governance and transparency.

Achievements
October
13, 2011: The Ottawa Hospital Foundation honoured the
Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation and The Stephen Greenberg Family
Foundation for their contributions of $1 million each toward the
purchase of the da Vinci surgical system.
September
10, 2011: Ride the Rideau raises more than $1.8 million
in support of cancer research at The Ottawa Hospital. In just its
second year Ride the Rideau, fuelled by Nordion, more than doubled
the number of participants.
June 29, 2011: The Centre for Innovative Cancer
Research opens thanks in part to the community that donated $9.5
million. The laboratory is uniquely designed to accelerate the development
and testing of new cancer therapies.
