Mary Gusella
Generous Public Servant Thinks of Hospital First
When Mary Gusella found out that she had won an Outstanding Achievement
Award of the Public Service of Canada, she knew she wanted to share
the award with as many people as possible. So this Chief Commissioner
of the Canadian Human Rights Commission decided to donate her prize—a
piece of original Canadian art worth $5,000—to The Ottawa
Hospital.
“Because the Hospital touches the lives of so many people,
it seemed like a logical way to share this award with the rest of
the community,” says Mary. The award, presented by the Prime
Minister, recognizes the exceptional performance and accomplishments
of senior public servants.
As a donor and member of The Ottawa Hospital Foundation’s
President’s Council, Mary knows that the Hospital plays a
pivotal role in our community.
“I have always felt fortunate to live in a community that
has such a great hospital,” she adds. “I am very impressed
with Dr. Jack Kitts (President and CEO of The Ottawa Hospital) and
his leadership. That’s why I support the Hospital.”
A piece of art of Mary’s choosing will brighten the hallways
of one of the Hospital’s three campuses.
