General Campus - The Centre for Research on Age-Related Blindness at the Eye Institute

The issue

  • Age-related macular degeneration is a leading cause of vision loss in Canadians over 60.
  • There is currently no cure for age-related vision loss.
  • Eye Institute must attract top researchers and create new lab space to study these disorders.

The solution

  • Build a new floor onto the existing Eye Institute to add 30,000 sq.ft. of clinical and research laboratory space.

Expected benefits

  • New technology and state-of-the-art research and patient facilities.
  • Industry collaborations that will put Eye Institute researchers at the leading edge of vision research.
  • Increased access to advanced clinical trials right here in Ottawa.
  • Eye Institute will work toward significantly reducing and hopefully finding a cure for age-related blindness.

We need the community’s support to raise the last $700,000 to complete and open the new floor.

You can donate online, download our donation form or call us at 613-761-4295.
