(OTTAWA, ONTARIO) –The Ottawa Hospital Foundation today launched its eighth annual lottery with over 4,000 prizes, worth over $2.7 million, to be won. Odds of winning are one in 11 – the best odds ever for any hospital lottery in Eastern Ontario.

This year’s grand prize-winner can choose a million-dollar home, or a $713, 000 home plus $250,000 in cash. The second-place winner can choose a $133,000 country home plus $100,000 in cash, or $150,000 in cash. Other prize highlights include six Ford vehicles including a F150 truck, six ultimate home-entertainment theatres with plasma TVs, $150,000 in jewelry, trips to the Grand Canyon and Cuba, digital camera binoculars, a transparent kayak, and much more. It’s Eastern Ontario’s largest charitable lottery ever.

There will be an early-bird draw with over 1,200 prizes to be won, including the first prize package featuring a 2004 Ford Thunderbird, a vacation package and two pairs of season tickets to the Ottawa Senators. The deadline for the early-bird draw is April 8.

Tickets this year are priced at $100. Only 45,000 will be sold.

“When you buy a ticket for The Ottawa Hospital Lottery, not only do you have a chance to win great prizes, you are also improving healthcare in your community,” said Susan Doyle, President and CEO of The Ottawa Hospital Foundation.

“With the support of the community, an exciting future is beginning to unfold at The Ottawa Hospital,” said Dr. Jack Kitts, President and CEO of The Ottawa Hospital. ”Our vision is to become Canada’s hospital of choice for patients and doctors. This lottery will help us raise over $1 million to achieve that end.”

Proceeds will help fund a number of improvements in patient care at the Civic, General and Riverside Campuses of The Ottawa Hospital, including:

  • Doubling the size of the emergency departments and converting them into state-of-the-art facilities
