OTTAWA HOSPITAL LAUNCHES 2004 LOTTERY WITH BEST ODDS EVER TO WIN
OVER $2.7 MILLION IN PRIZES
(OTTAWA, ONTARIO) –The Ottawa Hospital
Foundation today launched its eighth annual lottery with over
4,000 prizes, worth over $2.7 million, to be won. Odds of
winning are one in 11 – the best odds ever for any hospital
lottery in Eastern Ontario.
This year’s grand prize-winner can choose a million-dollar
home, or a $713, 000 home plus $250,000 in cash. The second-place
winner can choose a $133,000 country home plus $100,000 in
cash, or $150,000 in cash. Other prize highlights include
six Ford vehicles including a F150 truck, six ultimate home-entertainment
theatres with plasma TVs, $150,000 in jewelry, trips to the
Grand Canyon and Cuba, digital camera binoculars, a transparent
kayak, and much more. It’s Eastern Ontario’s largest
charitable lottery ever.
There will be an early-bird draw with over 1,200 prizes
to be won, including the first prize package featuring a 2004
Ford Thunderbird, a vacation package and two pairs of season
tickets to the Ottawa Senators. The deadline for the early-bird
draw is April 8.
Tickets this year are priced at $100. Only 45,000 will be
sold.
“When you buy a ticket for The Ottawa Hospital Lottery,
not only do you have a chance to win great prizes, you are
also improving healthcare in your community,” said Susan
Doyle, President and CEO of The Ottawa Hospital Foundation.
“With the support of the community, an exciting future
is beginning to unfold at The Ottawa Hospital,” said
Dr. Jack Kitts, President and CEO of The Ottawa Hospital.
”Our vision is to become Canada’s hospital of
choice for patients and doctors. This lottery will help us
raise over $1 million to achieve that end.”
Proceeds will help fund a number of improvements in patient
care at the Civic, General and Riverside Campuses of The Ottawa
Hospital, including:
- Doubling the size of the emergency departments and converting
them into state-of-the-art facilities
- Doubling the number of beds in the intensive care units
of the Civic and General Campuses
- Adding 17 new, state-of-the-art operating rooms
- Purchasing vital diagnostic equipment such as CT scanner
right in the emergency department
- Developing new, specialized out-patient care centers for
kidney, arthritis, diabetes and lipids care
