In 2002, the Kennedy family lost their youngest son Paul,
age 22, in a tragic car accident. As a result of Paul’s
foresight and generosity, eight people received his organs
and tissue, and went on to enjoy a better quality of life.
In honour of Paul, the Kennedys entered a family team in
the Ottawa Race Weekend and began fundraising for The Ottawa
Hospital Foundation. A tradition was born and, with the
help of more than 300 friends and family members, they have
raised over $54,000 in support of organ and tissue donation
awareness, and the Intensive Care Unit at the Civic Campus.
Pictured here, Dr. Jack Kitts, President and CEO of The
Ottawa Hospital (far left), thanks Joseph, Michelle and
Lucille Kennedy for their support.
