Mitel
In 2006, Mitel CFO Steve Spooner found out firsthand how important
The Ottawa Hospital is when doctors and nurses saved his 21-year-old
daughter Stephanie after she collapsed with an aneurysm. Once they
heard their colleague’s story, Mitel employees decided to
raise funds for a critical piece of equipment for the Intensive
Care Unit: a ventilator like the one that enabled Stephanie to breathe
in the hours after her aneurysm.
Mitel employees continued purchasing more lifesaving equipment
for critical care, which included a new cardiac patient monitor
for the General Campus ICU in 2007.
With several employees stepping forward to share their cancer
stories, employees responded enthusiastically to the 2008 Mitel
“Touched by Cancer” Campaign, raising over $45,000.
Thanks to the generosity of employees, The Ottawa Hospital Cancer
Centre will be purchasing nine chemotherapy chairs
for patients, which will be housed in the newly expanded Ottawa
Hospital Cancer Centre at the General Campus. Over the last three
years, they have raised more than $122,000!
